Wizz Air, Ryanair Resume Low-Cost Flights to Jordan Starting Late August

Jordan is gearing up for a significant boost in its tourism sector as low-cost carriers Wizz Air and Ryanair prepare to resume and expand their flight services by the end of this month. Wizz Air will restart its Budapest-Amman route on August 26, offering two weekly flights throughout the year, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Emad Hijazin said on Sunday.

Hijazin confirmed that the upcoming winter season of 2025-2026 will feature the largest network of budget-friendly direct flights linking Jordan to 18 key European cities. Major airlines including Ryanair, Wizz Air, and Eurowings will operate from Queen Alia International Airport, enhancing accessibility and travel options.

The Minister pointed out that Wizz Air’s winter schedule will also include four direct European destinations to King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba, with two weekly flights to each destination: Katowice and Warsaw (Poland), Bucharest (Romania), and Sofia (Bulgaria). This development enhances Aqaba’s status as a key gateway for beach and winter tourism.

Meanwhile, Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, Director General of the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), stated that flights will gradually commence from September 16 until the end of March 2026, with operations expected to extend into the summer season of 2026.

The new and resumed routes connect Jordan with major European hubs such as Milan, Paphos, Paris, Rome, Madrid, Vienna, Budapest, Stuttgart, Prague, and London. This increased connectivity is expected to attract more European visitors, notably boosting tourism to iconic sites like Petra, which anticipates heightened interest.

Arabiyat stressed that these developments are part of wider efforts to revitalize Jordan’s tourism following regional challenges. The JTB continues to promote stronger air links to key markets, ensuring smoother access to Jordan’s rich heritage and natural attractions, including Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba.

By expanding affordable direct flights to Europe, Jordan aims to strengthen its position as a competitive and attractive global travel destination.
