أعلنت المتحدثة باسم الخارجية الأميركية، مورغان أورتيغوس، الاثنين، أن الحل الوحيد مع إيران هو اتفاق جديد يشمل وقف كل التهديدات التي تشكلها، معتبرة أن الشروط الـ12 التي أعلنها الوزير مايك بومبيو تشكل أساسا لهذا الاتفاق.
وقالت أورتيغوس خلال الإيجاز اليومي للخارجية الأميركية، إنه في إطار حزمة العقوبات الأميركية الجديدة التي فرضتها واشنطن الجمعة ضد جزء من قطاع البتروكيماويات بإيران، فإن واشنطن ستستهدف أي شركة في قطاع البتروكيماويات، أو أي قطاع غيره يقدم دعما ماليا للشركات التي تطالها العقوبات.
وأكدت الناطقة باسم الخارجية الأميركية أن “حملة الضغط الأميركية القصوى على إيران ستستمر”.

وشددت أورتيغوس على أنه لا تهاون من قبل واشنطن أو حلفائها بشأن إمكانية حصول طهران على سلاح نووي، مشيرة أيضا إلى أن هناك توافقا بين واشنطن وحلفائها على التهديد الذي يمثله برنامج الصواريخ الباليستية الإيرانية وأنشطتها الإرهابية وانتهاكاتها لحقوق الإنسان، مضيفة بأن الاجتماعات الأخيرة لوزير الخارجية في أوروبا بهذا الشأن كانت مشجعة.
