The heatwave that swept through the Kingdom during the weekend is forecast to abate on Sunday, but such conditions are likely to return on Tuesday, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.

“Maximum temperatures over Amman and the plains are likely to fall by 3-4 degrees Celsius today, reaching 34C and dipping into 22C at night. Meanwhile the port city of Aqaba will see a scorching 40C, dropping to 27C during night hours,” the JMD added.

Another drop in temperatures is expected on Monday, bringing normal summerlike conditions to the highlands and plains, with northwesterly moderate to brisk winds.

As we head into Tuesday and the remainder of the week, the weather department predicted a new heatwave to envelop much of the country, bringing mercury to above seasonal average.
