Israel locks down West Bank for celebrations

– Israeli occupation forces late Saturday imposed a full closure on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip ahead of their Jewish new year celebrations.

“Palestinians from the West Bank will be barred from entering Israel during the closure, starting from midnight Saturday and will continue until Tuesday”, an Israeli military statement reads.

Medical and humanitarian emergency cases will still have the permission to enter, the statement added.

Israeli authorities will re-impose the closure next week from Monday midnight to Wednesday under the pretext of the alleged Day of Atonement festival.
