The United States has welcomed a meeting held on Sunday in Aqaba between senior officials of Jordan, Israel, the Palestinian Authority (PA), Egypt, and the United States, according to the Washington Post.

U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said in a statement “We recognize that this meeting was a starting point and that there is much work to do over the coming weeks and months to build a stable and prosperous future for Israelis and Palestinians alike. Implementation will be critical”.

The Security Advisor extended his thanks to His Majesty King Abdullah II, for convening the meeting, and for the efforts of President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi over recent weeks to establish the conditions for its success.

This was the first meeting of its kind in years, with regional and international participation, to discuss the situation in the Palestinian territories. The five parties agreed to convene again in Sharm El Sheikh in March
