Washington agrees to sell 5 helicopters to Iraq worth $82m

Washington has agreed to sell five helicopters to Iraq in a deal worth more than $82 million, according to the US Department of Defense.

“The aircraft are Bell-407 [helicopters] equipped with sophisticated machine guns and communications systems that will be sold to Iraq for more than $82 million,” the US Defense Security Service said in a statement.

“This deal will contribute to enhancing the effectiveness of the Iraqi security forces in their fight against Daesh terrorist group and protecting critical infrastructure,” the statement added.
