The Chinese University of Hong Kong managed to develop a nanochip that can detect hazardous and toxic substances in food in only 30 seconds.

The nanochip, made of gold or silver nanoparticles, can be installed into small devices, like cellphones, making it easier for people to use, as it is expected to enter international markets within a year.

The technology of the nanochip is based on the Raman signal which detects objects with an accuracy rate of 90 percent and turn it directly into graphs and illustrations on the computer screen.

The new chip, not only can not test hazardous substances in foods, but also test pesticides and food additives such as cocaine, heroin and even explosives.
