House panel endorses 2018 Illicit Gains draft law

The Lower House of Parliament Legal Committee approved the draft law amending the 2018 Illicit Gains Law, during its meeting on Wednesday, chaired by MP Abdel Monem Oudat.

Oudat said the panel approved the bill after listening to comments and suggestions of the diverse stakeholders.

The lawmaker noted the bill aims to enhance the values of integrity and transparency and to expand the scope of the categories subject to the law, as well as to improve the efficiency of the Financial Disclosure Department, and enable it to assume its role effectively.

The draft law, he added, also seeks to preserve public funds and achieve the concept of liability in case of job abuse.
