The State Security Court (SSC) on Wednesday issued a number of verdicts on terrorism cases and possession of incendiary material for illegal use.

The verdicts were announced during a public hearing presided by the court’s Chairman, Colonel Mohammed Afef.

In the first case, the court sentenced a defendant to three years and four months in jail of carrying out terror acts.

According to the indictment sheets, the SSC found he hurled two bottles, presumably containing fuel, at security officers at the Ma’an Governorate Education Directorate during the general secondary examinations. The two bottles did set alight.

In the second case, the court issued a verdict on a defendant in his forties for 5 years behind bars, after his 10-year jail term was reduced due to his health conditions, on charges of possessing incendiary material for illegal use.

The court also issued tough sentences on 7 suspects for 10 years in jail on charges of forming a gang to steal cash at gun point after luring and duping their victims in the Mafrak governorate.
