A delegation from the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs checked on achievements made by the basic medical care project for mothers, babies, and children, as well as health education for the local communities and the Syrian refugees, funded by the Polish Development Cooperation Program (PDCP).

The project aims to provide health services to the Syrian refugee women and children and citizens, focusing on women before and after birth, children from birth to 18 years of age, and family planning, said, Deborah Da Poit, the regional coordinator of the Terre des Hommes Italia in Jordan, Syria and Iraq.

“The project also aims to reduce the burden of hosting Syrian refugees on Jordan’s health sector, through offering medical examinations and free treatment, as well as providing local community service,” she noted, adding the project continues until the end of this year.

As part of the project, the Terre des Hommes Italia, in collaboration with the Polish Medical Mission in the Family Welfare Center, organized a free medical education day for 600 women and children targeting the local community and Syrian refugees, which included awareness lectures on breastfeeding, healthy nutrition and hygiene.
