US loses drone over Libya

The United States military lost a drone flying over Libya in a security mission to assess the ongoing security situation and monitor extremist activity, the Pentagon announced Friday.

The US Africa Command said in a statement that the unarmed drone aircraft was lost over Tripoli last Thursday, adding that there was an ongoing investigation into the incident.

According to the Washington Post, the statement said these operations are critical to counter terror activity in different areas and are fully coordinated with appropriate government officials.
