According to statistical data of the Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI), the sector’s exports during the past seven months of 2020 reached JD725 million, compared to JD696 million for the same period last year.
Representative of the chemical industries and cosmetics sector in the JCI, Ahmed Al-Beis, said the sector’s exports risen during the past seven months due to the increase in demand for its products after the Covid-19 spread.
In a press statement to “Petra,” on Saturday, he said there is a global demand on sterilizers, disinfectants, and fertilizers, adding that the sector, which operates 700 establishments and employs 15 thousand workers, has “high” capabilities to increase its exports during the next period of 2020.
Al-Beis called on the government to strengthen the “true” partnership with the industrial sector to discuss the challenges and difficulties it is battling, noting if removed, this will be reflected in hiking the volume of industrial exports to “greater levels.”
