China on Monday recorded 103 new COVID-19 confirmed cases over the last 24 hours, indicating the highest daily toll in its mainland for more than half a year, the National Health Commission (NHC) said in a statement on Monday.

“Of the new cases, 85 were locally transmitted, including 82 in Hebei province, 2 in Liaoning and 1 in Beijing municipality,” it added.

“The commission had received reports of 87,536 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland,” the statement further said.
