Minister of Labor and Minister of State for Investment Affairs, Maen Qatamin, on Wednesday discussed with Philippine Ambassador to Jordan, Akmad Sakkah, means of furthering bilateral ties in the labor field.

Qatamin stressed the ministry’s keenness to continuously monitor the labor market to preserve the rights of Jordanian and non-Jordanian workers, and ensure a safe working environment.

The envoy hailed the government’s measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the exemption of non-Jordanian workers who leave the Kingdom permanently from paying all work permit fees, as well as the decision to slash expired work permits for expatriates who wish to remain in the Kingdom by 80 percent.

He also underscored the deep relations between the two countries in various fields, as Jordan provides employment to a large number of Filipinos.
