Inflation slightly up in January, February

 The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of inflation, inched up by 0.02 percent to 101.56 points in the first two months of 2021, against 101.55 points in the corresponding period of 2020, according to official data.

The Department of Statistics (DoS) said Monday that the CPI edged up by 0.38 percent in February to 101.91 points against 101.52 points in the same month of last year. Compared with January’s figures, February’s CPI increased by 0.69 percent.

On the cumulative level, the CPI in January and February reached 69.10 points compared with 68.22 points in the same period last year, indicating an increase of 1.18 percent, the DoS indicated in a monthly statistical brief.
