Transportation system shall meet needs of citizens, says minister

Minister of Transport Wajeeh Azayza stressed the importance of building a transportation system that meets the needs of citizens, through making it linked to social, economic and environmental standards and defined by a financial and time frame.

“There are local and external challenges in this regard,” the minister said in a statement on Wednesday, stressing the need to formulate a national transport strategy that anticipates the international and regional rapid developments and translates the desired goals.

Azayza referred to the methodology to be followed in order to address the sector’s challenges, along with the structures of the steering and the sectoral committees to work on updating the national transport strategy.
