A dry run for the Ajloun governorate’s 2.55KM sky tram, or teleferique, project kicked off on Thursday morning.

According to Arwa Hiyari, Director General of the Development Areas Company, some 40 sky trams will be wrapped up with temporary safety covers, while they undergo inspection, control and calibration operations to ensure that the safety standards and requirements are in place.

Over the next few months, tests for speed, movement, sensors, and brake systems will be conducted under multiple operation scenarios, different weather conditions and various loads until the completion of the project in the summer of 2022.

Individuals are prohibited at the moment from entering or using the sky trams under the technical procedures of Doppelmayr’s, an Austrian manufacturing company working on the project, she added.

The sky tram project consists of two launch stations in the Ishtafina park, with 40 sky trams, each one can carry up to 8 people for a 10-minute one way trip.
