In the meeting, the two ministers underscored the firm position on the Palestinian cause as the first central cause, and underlined the need to find a real political horizon to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that ends the occupation and embodies the independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the pre-June 4, 1967 lines in accordance with international law and approved references.

Safadi and Sheikh Mohammed’s meeting covered a number of regional and international issues and efforts to resolve crises in Syria, Yemen and Libya, the situation in Afghanistan, the Ukrainian crisis and its regional and international impacts.

They said that the international law, the United Nations’ Charter and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states are a pillar of stability that must be respected and adhered to.

Al-Safadi congratulated Sheikh Mohammed on the success of the Doha Forum, which has become an international platform for diplomacy and dialogue.
