Army deploys field hospital in Karak

 The Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army, on Sunday, deployed a mobile field hospital at the Karak public hospital to receive COVID-19 patients and enhance its capacity.

In a statement, Director of the Karak Health Department, Ayman Tarawneh, said that the field hospital is supplied with all necessary medical equipment, including 14 regular beds and 4 intensive care beds.

Director of the Karak hospital, Muath Ma’aytah, stated that the field hospital, an implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, arrived at dawn today to enhance the services of the government hospital, especially for coronavirus patients, pointing out that it will begin operations upon completion.

A total of 24 beds out of 44 (approximately 55%) at the hospital are currently occupied, Ma’aytah said, indicating that the hospital has 10 ventilators. Oxygen levels are sufficient and machines are monitored on a regular basis, he pointed out.

A group of precautionary measures have been taken, such as holding off on scheduled surgeries and slashing the number of patients coming in to specialized clinics by half, he stated. Ma’aytah assured that emergency clinic are still open to patients.

Ma’aytah also called on citizens to cooperate and abide by the health instructions and guidelines and defense orders to preserve their safety and the safety of our community.
