Jordan receives $1.7bln in foreign aid, soft loans in 7 months

The total amount of foreign assistance, grants and soft loans committed to Jordan by donor countries and financing institutions stood at $1.7 billion in the first seven months of 2020, according to data by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.

The figures, released on Monday, indicated that the Kingdom had received $589 million in development grants and $507 million in soft loans and while the value of additional assistance provided to the Jordan Response Plan for the Syria Crisis (JRP) reached $597 million.

Breaking down the amount channeled to the JRP, the ministry said $124 million was allocated to refugee support, $123 million to host communities, and $350 million to the state’s budget.

The ministry’s data also showed that the total foreign aid provided to the Kingdom in July amounted to $1 billion distributed as following: $395 million in development grants, $284 million in soft loans, and $384 million for the JRP.
