Extreme heat wave continues nationwide

The extreme late-summer heat wave that has brought above-40 temperatures to the Kingdom is expected to roast the region through the rest of the week, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

Mercury levels today are expected to score 9 to 10 degrees above annual average, the JMD added, with northeasterly to northwesterly moderate winds and clouds at different altitudes.

Over the next two days, the weather will remain dry and sweltering countrywide, and some clouds at medium and high altitudes are forecast, said the JMD report.

Mercury in Amman today hovers around a sweltering 41C degrees, falling to 27C during night hours, while the Dead Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba will see a scorching 44C, 46C respectively, sliding to 29C, 30C, in a row, during night time.
