Muhaidat said that this qualitative leap is a result of royal directives to focus on food processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, medical supplies, and following up on all stages of work, in addition to the follow-up of Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on all production practices, so that Jordan becomes in an important position at the regional level in producing these supplies.

He added that Jordan, within a short period of time, produced around 4.5 million masks per day, covering all its needs of sterilizers, and exporting to more than 70 countries, pointing out that the medical supplies industry witnessed a remarkable growth during the Kingdom’s response to the pandemic.

He pointed out that 15 surgical masks factories have been established and licensed, as well as 32 fabric masks factories, which produce the needs of the local market and export the surplus to foreign markets.

Muhaidat pointed out that the Foundation had recently reduced the selling price of surgical masks (a package of 50 masks) to be sold to the public for an amount of five dinars and a quarter, including tax, to match citizens’ income.

He emphasized that the control and inspection teams of the Medical Supplies Department are committed to carry out supervisory inspection rounds on factories to ensure the commitment of those in charge to manufacture masks in accordance with the specifications approved by the Administration.

Pharmacies and places where masks are sold are also inspected, he added, to ensure that unauthorized, counterfeit or non-conforming masks are not in circulation.
