Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Wednesday met with President of the Arab and Iraqi Contractors Unions, Ali Al-Sanafi.

During the meeting, held in presence of Minister of Public Works and Housing Yahya Al Kasbi, the PM stressed the government’s support for the construction sector in Jordan as a leading engine for various economic sectors, through enabling it export engineering advisory services along with its contribution in the post-conflict reconstruction efforts in neighboring countries.

He also confirmed the need to build on his last week’s visit to Iraq by bolstering bilateral ties within the framework of the tripartite Jordanian-Iraqi-Egyptian cooperation, indicating that a Jordanian delegation, headed by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and comprising representatives of the private sector, will visit Baghdad soon to discuss the available reconstruction opportunities and areas of cooperation.

The Iraqi official referred to the approval of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Reconstruction on a decision to give the priority for Arab companies in the post-conflict reconstruction efforts in Arab countries, adding that Jordanian construction companies are given priority in Iraq.
