Relatively cold weather forecast today

 Temperatures on Monday are expected to dip few degrees, remaining around thier annual average and bringing relatively cold weather in most parts of the Kingdom, and relatively warm conditions in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba with low clouds in the northern and central regions.

According to the Jordan Meteorological Department JMD, the weather will turn to be colder at night with northwesterly moderate to brisk winds.

A tangible rise in mercury levels is forecast on Tuesday, becoming 3-5 degrees above their annual average and making warm conditions in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, and fair weather in other areas of the country with clouds at various altitudes and southwesterly to southeasterly moderate winds, the forecasters predicted.

On Wednesday, the Kingdom will be affected by a Khamasini air depression, as mercury will further rise. Therefore, dry, dusty and warm conditions will prevail nationwide with clouds at medium and high altitudes and southwesterly active winds, the JMD noted.

The Khamasini depression’s name is derived from khamsin (50) in Arabic, as it occurs during the 50 days from the end of March to 10th of May.

Temperatures in Amman today will reach a high of 16C, dropping to 6C at night, while the Gulf of Aqaba will see a fair 24C, dipping to 12C during night hours.
