Cold weather to persist despite rise in temps

A slight rise in temperatures is expected on Sunday, but it will be cold in most parts of the Kingdom and fair in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, with clouds at various altitudes and southeasterly moderate winds.

The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) in its daily brief said that the weather will turn to be chilly in the evening, warning of frost and freeze formation in the early morning and late night hours over the highlands and the Badia areas.

On Monday, a further increase in mercury is forecst, bringing relatively cold conditions in most regions, while it will be mild in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba.

Clouds at high and meduim altitudes are also forecast to appear with a weak chance of intermittent rain in the evening in some areas of the country, as winds will be southeasterly moderate to brisk at times, blowing dust in the desert, the JMD added.

On Tuesday, the Kingdom will be affected by unstable weather conditions, so partly cloudy weather will prevail with spotty showers that may turn heavy accompanied by thunder, lightning and hail in some regions, the metrologists predicted, noting that winds will be southeasterly moderate to active, stirring dust in the Badia.

Temperatures in Amman will reach 13 degrees Celsius , dropping to 4C during night, while the Gulf of Aqaba will see a fair 22C, dipping to 11C during night hours.
