The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Sunday condemned the attacks of the Israeli police against Jerusalemites at the Damascus Gate and various areas in occupied East Jerusalem.

In a statement, ministry spokesperson Dhaifallah Al-Fayez said that such assaults on Jerusalemites by the Israeli police are “rejected and condemned”.

Al-Fayez called on the Israeli authorities, as an occupying power, to abide by their obligations in occupied East Jerusalem under international law, and not to prevent Jerusalemites from holding their usual Ramadan evening gatherings in the Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif.

He also warned against the consequences of the belligerence on Jerusalemites, calling for effective international action to protect them from such acts.
