Scorching weather forecast today

Hot weather conditions are expected to prevail in most parts of the Kingdom, except in the highlands and the plains where it will be relatively hot, with northwesterly moderate to brisk winds, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its forecast for Wednesday.

The weather department warned the public against the danger of direct exposure to sunlight at noon, mainly in the desert, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba.

On Thursday, temperatures will rise few degrees, becoming 3-4 degrees above seasonal average and making hot conditions in the Badia regions, and sweltering weather in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, while it will remain relatively hot in the hilly areas and the plains, with northwesterly moderate to brisk winds, the JMD added.

Toward Friday, a further increase in mercury levels is forecast, but similar weather conditions will continue to persist, the JMD noted.

The highs in Amman and other highlands across the Kingdom on Wednesday will range between 29 and 33 degrees Celsius, dropping at night to 23C or even 18C in the southern highlands. In the Gulf city of Aqaba, it will be much hotter with mercury reaching a high of 41C and a low of 28C.
