Jordan eyes developments in Ukraine

Jordan on Thursday underlined that it is worriedly following up with rising tensions in Ukraine.

A statement by the Foreign Ministry said that Jordan stressed the need for the international community to spare no efforts to self-restrain and de-escalate the situation, peacefully settle disputes, and restore security and stability in the region through negotiations.

The statement cited Jordan’s ambassador to the United Nations Mahmoud Hmoud during the UN General Assembly session, held late Wednesday to discuss the situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, saying that “Jordan underscores the positive and effective role of the UN and involved parties to reach that goal”.

The envoy highlighted Jordan’s firm stance towards the necessity of respecting the international law, the Charter of the UN, sovereignty and regional safety of states and principles of good neighborliness.
