Ministry of Labor, GIZ hold corrdination meeting

Minister of Labor Samir Murad on Wednesday discussed with the Regional Director of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Jordan and Lebanon, Michaela Baur, and the accompanying delegation, ways to enhance joint cooperation.

During the meeting, Murad lauded the German government’s efforts to fund and support several projects and programs, especially those aimed at developing Jordan’s vocational and technical education training sector.

In this context, Murad also hailed GIZ’s efforts in implementing those programs in coordination with local stakeholders.

Murad highlighted efforts of the government and local partners to implement the outcomes of the National Strategy for Human Resource Development, which aims to raise the level of vocational and technical education training sector to achieve a “significant” increase in the number of young people who possess the technical and technical skills that meet needs of the labor market.

Murad outlined the steps taken by the ministry in the field of training, empowerment and employment through several projects, programs and initiatives aimed at increasing employment and reducing poverty rates, especially among youth in the Kingdom’s governorates through public-private sectors’ partnership.

For her part, Baur stressed the importance of continued cooperation and coordination between the two sides, praising efforts of the Jordanian government in implementing strategies, plans and agreements aimed to boost human resources development and raise efficiency of Jordanian youth to increase employment rates.
