COVID-19 testing results now delivered via SMS

– The Ministry of Health on Thursday said that it had started to send coronavirus test results via an automated SMS system to ensure timely delivery of the results and allow those who test positive for the virus to isolate as soon as possible.

The ministry’s director of Digitization and Information Technology, Fatima Hammad, told Petra that the SMS will also include instructions to infected persons on how on home-isolate and contact numbers should they need any medical attention.

She explained that a data entry professionals are now working alongside epidemiological investigation teams and barcode all samples taken before they are tested at laboratories, adding that the result is automatically sent to the tested person in either case, negative or positive.

Hammad indicated that the system, which includes all laboratories conducting COVID-19 testing across the Kingdom, aims to build a comprehensive database containing all tests conducted in public and private testing facilities.
