The Court of Cassation, the highest judicial body, upheld a decision issued by the High Criminal Court in the case of an attempt to kill an inmate at the hands of another who wanted to avenge his murdered cousin by shooting the inmate inside the courtroom in September 2018.

The High Criminal Court found the defendant charged with attempted murder and sentenced him to 20 years in prison.

The ruling stated, “In September 2018, the cousin (A) of the accused was killed, and the victim (B) was accused of that case.

He was arrested and the accused (C) was named as a witness in that case.

On 2/21/2019, the accused (C) brought a pistol from his place of residence to the court where the victim (B) was being held.

Upon reaching the court, he placed the pistol in the pocket of his uncle’s car, and he took the key from his uncle under the pretext of bringing his identity card from the car, and then he entered the major criminal court.

After a while, he left, returned to the car and brought the pistol inside, and hid the pistol in the genital area so that it was not discovered in a search.

After that, he entered the courtroom, and later approached the cell in which the victim (B) was located. He took out the pistol and fired.

The victim (B) survived the murder attempt.
